The 550 Maranello was shaped for distance. Here, its long-bonnet silhouette becomes the starting point for something rawer, louder, and more immediate.
Garage Saurus kept the unmistakable proportions, then rebuilt the experience around response, theatre, and purpose. The result feels less like a modification and more like a second identity.

The road-going 550 Maranello came only with a six-speed manual. Ferrari offered no alternative gearbox: the metal gate and three pedals were part of the original formula, long before they became a collector’s talking point.

In his 2020 interview, Charles Wong traced this car to a Kyoto customer who had already entrusted a GT-R to Saurus. The stock 550 evolved into a circuit-focused build and a Saurus demonstration car. Its later move to British Columbia gave that Japanese chapter a new home.

A separate competition lineage, but a telling one: Prodrive’s racing 550 won its category at the 2003 Le Mans 24 Hours. It is part of the model’s history, not a race result attributed to this Saurus-built car.
